Course Description

Senior Seminar is a course in which students present a 30 minute seminar on a published research article. Seminars are presented to a public audience which includes the Department of Biology faculty, and the members of the faculty prepare a written evaluation on each student's presentation.

Each student works closely with a faculty mentor who must approve the research article to be presented and verify that the student has prepared sufficiently to successfully present a seminar. Successful preparation requires a minimum of three weeks of intensive preparation prior to the seminar presentation, including three or more practice presentations with the faculty mentor. Contacting the faculty member you wish to work with (in the first week of the semester or in the semester prior to taking this course) is highly advisable.
